Vampire Facelift/Facial: What Is It?
What Is It?
This is a procedure that has gained a lot of attention in the last couple of years due to many celebrities posting their procedures/results on social media. The vampire facelift is a procedure that consists of PRP & hyaluronic acid, also known as fillers. (Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero). The “fillers” are generally injected prior to the application of platelets to help restore fullness and volume to areas of the face and lips. The vampire facial is a procedure that consists of microneedling of the skin prior to application of PRP platelets. Platelet-rich fibrin matrix is one of the key ingredients in this procedure. The platelet-rich plasma is derived from the patient's own blood. Sometimes activators are added to the PRP.
What Steps are Involved in Performing This Treatment?
There are four steps involved in performing the Vampire Facelift:
- Your Doctor will have you apply a numbing cream to the area
- Hyaluronic acid filler injected into problem areas
- The physician will draw your blood and prepare the PRP serum.
- Your doctor will then perform a series of microneedling and injections using the PRP
The PRP serum has many growth factors that help stimulate the skin to regenerate a newer, smoother and refreshed appearance while removing many unwanted scars, fine lines and dark spots due to sun damage. The final step is to inject the platelet-rich plasma into the skin. This procedure is not painful. A small needle is used and a numbing cream is applied prior to the procedure.
Am I a Candidate for This Procedure?
The Vampire Facelift is not for everyone. It can correct things such as fine lines around the mouth, forehead wrinkles and smile lines. It can also be used to plump the cheeks & lips.
The only way that you can find out whether you are a good candidate for this procedure is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Andrew Jarminski. During the consultation, your doctor will discuss your goals and determine whether this is the best procedure for you.
How Long Will it Take to See the Results?
You may notice a difference in your skin as soon as you get this procedure. However, you will see a significant improvement in your skin tone, firmness, and texture within 2-3 weeks. But the results will continue to improve over the next several months. The results can last anywhere from 1.5 to 2 years, but this can vary from person to person.
Are There any Side Effects?
You may experience some mild side effects including:
- Slight Bruising
- Skin Flaking
These side effects generally clear up 3-5 days after the procedure. As with any procedure on the face, you should use sunscreen and a hat to avoid direct sunlight until your skin has completely healed.
